F379.1 applies to the performance, durability, and safety of packaged solar domestic hot water (SDHW) systems that use liquid-to-liquid heat transfer and liquid heat storage media suitable for year-round use. This Standard specifies requirements for both factory-packaged and add-on packaged systems. F379.2-09 applies to the performance, durability, and safety of packaged seasonal-use solar domestic hot water (SSDHW) systems that are not intended to be operated in freezing conditions. In these systems, freeze protection is accomplished manually (e.g., complete drainage) with or without a device intended to offer limited freeze protection. Note: This Standard was developed to specifically address systems not intended for use in freezing conditions. For the most part, the other requirements of this Standard are similar to those of CSA F379.1. It may be assumed that any system that meets the requirements of CSA F379.1 is recognized as meeting or exceeding the requirements of this Standard.
