This new document, published by NRC in collaboration with the Régie du bâtiment du Québec, includes the amendments to Chapter I, Building, of the Construction Code, as well as an amended 2010 National Building Code of Canada (NBC). The amended NBC clearly indicates to readers the changes adopted by Quebec, which apply to the construction or renovation of buildings in that province.
This document contains Quebec-specific provisions that allow, subject to certain conditions, buildings of Group C or D, up to 6 storeys, to be of combustible construction. It also contains provisions regarding the introduction of Group B, Division 3, care occupancies, which include single-family type care occupancies, private seniors' residences and single-family type private seniors' residences, and the creation of a new occupancy, the ambulatory clinic occupancy.
This document is a must-have for designers, contractors responsible for carrying out building work, and owner-builders in Quebec.
