It defines the key factors used in identifying spare parts requirements and quantities and provides those who approve spare parts acquisition the assurance that recommendations are based on an objective process.This process applies to new construction, expansion, or revamp projects, maintenance, and stocking of rotating equipment parts inventory. This Practice provides guidelines for needed spare parts vs. vendor recommendations, parts interchangeability criteria, startup and maintenance parts, locations of parts stocking, and levels of parts stocking.
